Welcome to Digimon Horizon!
If you are viewing this then you must be new to Digimon Horizon. For that I offer you a warm WELCOME!! We are more than glad that you have decided to join our community! Now, I am sure that you are more than anxious to get started on your first character, but hang on, there is plenty you must understand on how the site works. Even if you are a Roleplaying veteran or a newbie to the practice of it, but the most important rule to Roleplay is not all sites are identical.
Here on Digimon Horizon, we have specific rules that make our site what it is, and it is my job today to walk you through every step of it. Keep in mind that this thread could change as more is added to the site, but don't worry. I'll try to keep it as simple and easy to understand as possible. So let's get started, shall we?
So then... Just where to start, you ask? Well, let's work our way down the site and give you an overview of the home page. No doubt you've done your own bit of exploring and tried to see what you could understand on your own. But let's just take this little look at the home page anyways just so that everyone is on the same page.
Let's start with the side bars. These are incredibly helpful as they allow for quick and easy access to some of the most important info on the site. Up at the top we have the "Summary". This gives a brief sumary of all the major events that have happened in the story. This is constantly changing as events conclude to allow for everyone to know where the story is at. Below that is the "Navigation". This is a list of help links to quickly allow you to navigate the boards. Following that is the "Updates" section. This is updated to allow for everyone to know what the current main event is. It'll also lead to a link to the thread in "The Digital Story" board. But we'll get to that later. After that is the "Stats". This just shpws a few stats regarding the character base of the site. It lets you know what we have the most of, and what gender they are. Below that is "Staff". This will show you the current staff of Digimon Horizon, and who you should go to with your questions. Finally, we have the "Credits" which will explain who the Admin is giving credit to for the skin and images used on the site.
Now that we know about the sidebars, let's get a brief overview of the categories that hold the boards. At the top we have "Entering the Digital World". This category holds all the rules, plot related info, FAQ, Staff Area, Archives, and Support Area. So if you have questions, this is the place to go. Next is the "Data Center". This is where all character info goes, as well as thread trackers. Next we have the "Digivice System Access". Imagine this category as what messages you'd see pop up on your digivice. If it's posted here, it's likely to show up on your Digivice, provided it's directed to you. After that, we have the "Digital World". These categories are split by continent, but only the ones that you can get to at this time will be shown. This is where all of the actual Roleplaying happens. Finally, we have "Out of this World (OOC)" which is our out of character board. Random fun things, graphic designs, and advertisements are posted here in this category.
And that covers the homepage! Oops! Almost forgot... At the very bottom of the homepage is the site's "C-Box" or Chat-Box! This allows for rapid chats with the members of the group. It's quite the handy tool to keep in touch with all of your friends, and I have a feeling you'll get a lot of use out of it! Now that we've covered what's on the homepage, you're probably wondering what's next! Well I'll help you out with that.
Your next step would be to read through all of the rules on the site. There are a lot of things that need to be read through, and it's important to get through them all. You wouldn't want to break the rules on accident because you didn't read them. The board "Yggdrasil's Decreet" houses all the rules. Every thread in there is important, so it's good to know all about them. The sub-board for this is "The Digital Story". This board holds all of the plot related info as well as events that have happened. Any major events will have a thread posted here with the dates that it ran to. Sometimes events last for a long time, but it's good to know what happened in the story as well.
Once you've read through the rules, you'll likely know that there are three different types of characters that you can play, each with their own special benefits. You can play as a Tamer, Spirit User, or a Solo Digimon. So let's discuss each of them in detail!
Tamers: Tamers start off with a digimon partner of their own. This is the most common form. Tamers receive a Digivice and partner upon entering the Digital World. Through their Digivice, they can digivolve their partners, and overall keep in touch with them. The tamer themselves generally isn't good in battle and requires their partners to do the battling for them.
Solo digimon: So what if you don't want to play a human? Well you can play a Solo Digimon as well. These are Digimon who have gained a Digivice, either as an item that they normally have or an item they picked up. They can do the same as Tamers, but it takes a little more for them to be able to Digivolve themselves due to not being tied to another.
As you can see, there are options for those that wish to play different roles. And since you can play on multiple accounts (One character per account), you could essentially play all of the different roles that you'd like! All it takes is figuring out what will work best for you and going for it. So go read up on the character templates (Tamer/Solo Digimon) and learn what you'd like to do most!
So you've got your character completed, and it's been accepted. Now what do you do? You'll likely start in the Digital Center of Asuka City. This is a good place to post your first thread explaining how you got into the Digital World and how your adventure starts. From there, find a thread, talk with some people, and get some personal plots worked on. Maybe check out the current major event and see if you can get in on it!
At this point, You've probably started on a few threads and maybe gathered up some money either just by posting or defeating some attacking Digimon or something. What do you do with it then? Well there are two shops that you can spend your money on. So let's discuss those, shall we?
You've pretty much got everything you need to know to keep going and roleplay here on Digimon Horizon. Feel free to come on back to this thread if ever you need a refresher on how things work, but I think in time, you'll figure out what's best. Thanks for taking the time to read through this helpful guide and enjoy your time on Digimon Horizon!
