As the question came in multiple times and will surely come in the future, I decided to make this thread. Most of you are wondering how you can begin posting, what would be correct to involve and such. After I gave some hints to this player, Mayu went and did an excellent introduction post, which she allowed me to show you as an exemple.
It had started out just like any other day. Mayu’s mother had gone to work as usual, leaving Mayu home alone all day. It was summer, so she didn’t have school. Once her chores were completed and her studying was over, she had the rest of the day to herself until it was time to cook dinner. Her mother had left a new computer game sitting on Mayu’s keyboard before she had left that day. It was none other than Digital Frontier, the hot new game that had just come out! The girl had seen numerous advertisements for it. After making a mental note to thank mother profusely when she got home, she popped in the disk and loaded up the game.
Mayu registered right away and clicked on the optional personality quiz that was presented to her. The instructions stated that the test was used to help decide what starting Digimon would fit he best. Unfortunately, she got an error message after completing it, so there was no way to figure out how she scored. Thinking nothing of it, Mayu moved onto looking at two welcome messages that she had received. The first one looked like a standard welcome message that new players of most online games got when they first started. However, there was some sort of error when she clicked on it. The message appeared to be cut short, and it was covered by mess of strange looking characters. It was actually kind of hard to make out the original message, but the word ‘danger’ popped up a few times. It was kind of unnerving, so she hastily took a look at second message.
The second message was much more legible, but it wasn’t from the game’s admin. In fact, there wasn’t even a username attached to it at all. The sender identified himself/herself as Vandrakemon in the message itself and went on to talk about how there was no escape from the game, and how Mayu was to become food for something called Shadow Godmon. Food? What was that supposed to mean? She kept reading, but her mind was quickly becoming fuzzy for some reason. Also, it may have been her imagination, but it looked like her computer screen was glowing brighter and brighter. Before she knew what was happening, Mayu’s body went numb and she lost consciousness.
When Mayu woke up, she instinctively let out a tiny shriek. She appeared to be standing in some sort of large building. The young woman was surrounded by people of all ages and nationalities. They weren’t the only ones occupying the room. There were talking stuffed animals everywhere! Were… were they Digimon? The girl didn’t have time to think about what they were too hard; she was far too busy having panic attack from crowd of people.
Both human and creature alike looked extremely confused. Apparently it wasn’t just Mayu that was clueless as to what was happening. Eventually a group of Digimon stepped up and ushered people in small groups toward the front desk of what referred to as “the lab”. What happened after that was still kind of a blur. Mayu had felt dizzy and was straining to keep breathing under control so she didn’t hyperventilate. There was a faint memory about being asked some questions that were similar to the questions of the personality she had taken not long ago, and having to repeat her answers several times because she was either too quiet or her voice was too shaky.
When Mayu came to her senses, she was standing outside of the laboratory with what was to be her partner Digimon right next to her, looking up at her curiously. It was a Lalamon. The human girl didn’t say a word to the little plant sprite looking thing, as more people were being funneled into the large building. Mayu couldn’t take it anymore! She had to get out of there! Grabbing Lalamon by her tiny stub of an arm, Mayu bolted from the city as fast as her scrawny legs would carry her.
"Mayu? Mayu!? Hey, Mayu! Are you even in there?"
”Huh?” Mayu snapped back to senses and looked down to see Lalamon staring at her with beady, black eyes. ”What’s the matter, Mayu? You haven’t said a word since you got the okay to leave the lab.” Lalamon spoke with an odd mixture of curiosity and concern. At first all Mayu could do was stare down at what was supposed to be her partner. What was she supposed to say? It may not have looked human, but it spoke and acted just like one. ”Oh, um… I,er, I’m s-sorry ab-bout that. I… just… sort of… erm…” she stammered, her speech trailing off.
It was one thing to talk to people from the other side of a computer screen. She got to choose an avatar to represent her, speak however she wanted to speak, and there was absolutely no need to connect her game self with her real self. The anonymity factor was the entire reason she could play games like this and interact with others in a comfortable fashion. Talking to people face to face? That was a different can of worms entirely. Mayu’s fellow students at her high school were all aware by now that talking to Mayu wouldn’t get them very far. The only one that ever really talked to her anymore was Mama, and she was perfectly okay with that.
”Huh? You’ve gotta speak up. I’m your partner; I promise that I don’t bite,” Lalamon piped up. Mayu bit her lower lip. Even if she hadn’t been too tired to run away, she got the feeling that it wouldn’t help her too much here. ”I don’t, uh… I’m not really… I’m not v-v-very good at conversation, she spoke quietly.
Lalamon tilted head, which in this particular Digimon’s case meant her entire body, and stepped closer to her partner. The sentient plant carefully examined the young woman’s face.”Ooooooooooooh, one of those anti-social types, huh? I gotcha, but that’s something you’re gonna need to work on. If you expect to make it very far in the Digital World, you’ve gotta talk to me,” said with smile. Mayu simple lowered her face and looked away. There was so much that was wrong with this whole situation that she didn’t even know where to start! What had she gotten herself into?
In this thread, you can see 4 things: Her entry into the game, her reaction to the mails, the chaos inside the entry point and her meeting with her digimon. Those are the 4 main points required for an introduction post. But you don't need to have it posted in Asuka city. If your character is the type to rush into the fields directly to calm himself and fight a bit, you can just go post in Central Park or other zones while explaining briefly what happened when he joined the game and got sucked into it. I hope this answered your questions, future and old ^^
PS: No, it doesn't need to be as long as this. It can be the lenght you wish. But don't forget that the more details there is, the more rewarding it'll be for you.

Mayu Kawamura sat on the ground with her knees pulled tightly to her chest. The eighteen year old’s back was pressed against the outer wall of Asuka City. Her chest was heaving like she had just run a marathon; her heart was pounding like a speedy drum beat. What was happening?! Had she finally gone off the deep end?! If not, then Mayu had actually gotten sucked into her brand new computer game. There had to be something else going on here, right? It may have been all a matter of recollecting her thoughts…It had started out just like any other day. Mayu’s mother had gone to work as usual, leaving Mayu home alone all day.
